Manually Set Ableton User Library Path

  1. Ableton User Library Folder
  2. Ableton Library Location
  3. Ableton Library Missing

Create a folder called “Templates” within your User Library. Any Sets saved to this folder will then function as templates: they will load with the configuration you saved, but with the name Untitled.als, ready to be used as a new Set. • If all your instruments and presets are working fine, then I would suggest to delete the spare library folder and keep the one that is currently selected in your file/folder prefs under 'Library location'. FYI: The Library folder can be anywhere on your harddrive. Unless you set another location manually, it will be installed into these default.
  • Mar 15, 2013  But when I import a sample into Maschines Library it wont be copied into that folder. No problem I could manually move it. But where is the Library structure saved (the tags)? EG: User / Chill / Kick / Thin? Are those Tags and categories injected into the samples so that If I rescan the Library all my custom tags will apear automagically?
Hi there!
I am a very new user to Ableton, yet I always wanted to make the switch from FL Studio. I am taking music production seriously, and purchased a macbook pro and Ableton Live 9. I am still very new to Ableton and learning my way around, however I have stumbled upon a problem. I purchased Ableton Live 9 Standard a few days ago, and today when trying to save a drum rack preset, I get the error 'can't save the file because your user library is missing. Please relocate your user library folder'. When I also drag my mouse over 'User Library' in Ableton it say's 'This folder is missing, if you know where the folder is, open the context menu by ctrl-clicking and select the locate folder option'. I am really stumbled, and not sure how to fix this issue.
I really want to continue, any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you so much!
ParisienI've just downloaded the update to Live 7.0.3.
When launching 7.0.3 it makes a lot of disk activity, and I guess it is currently making a copy of my 7.0.2 library.

Ableton User Library Folder

However, this Library is about 4.5 GB large and most of it is sample data (since I've got alot of essential instruments and session drums installed) and a lot of small patch files (from the softsynths).
So my questions are:
1.Why does it have to make a copy of the complete library? Couldn't you make another structure of the library that seperated the files that made sense to update from the files that didn't?

Ableton Library Location

2. Can I avoid this library updating process by simply renaming the library folder to 7.0.3 instead of 7.0.2 or would this cause problems? In my case it's a question of even having enough disk space for the two copies of the library.

Thanks for any help
