  • I would highly recommend the GE 5200 btu room air conditioner for anyone who is looking for an alternative solution to cooling their home and would like to save money on the high cost of electricity during those hot summers

    • During an unusually hot summer, my central A/C had stopped working. After getting estimates on a replacement unit, I decided I would try a different solution to keep my home comfortable while saving the money to replace my central A/C unit. With finances being tight, I opted for the least expensive solution I could find.

I purchased the GE 5200 BTU room air conditioner, model AET05LM for $99 plus tax at my local discount store. The installation was very easy. I had never installed a window air conditioner, yet the instructions were very easy and very clear. You simply attach the side panels to the air

conditioner, and place the unit in the window. As a precaution I also purchased some window locks to place on either side, to prevent anyone from raising the window where the unit was located.

I wasn’t expecting much from this inexpensive air conditioner, but was hoping it would at least make the room more bearable while I was saving money for a better solution. I have to say that I was totally amazed with this air conditioner. Within minutes of turning it on, the temperature in the room was already beginning to be much more comfortable. Within an hour, the room was cooler than when I ..

    • had used my central A/C. The noise level is very minimal, and is not at all intrusive. I was so impressed with the GE 5,200 BTU room air conditioner that I purchased 2 more for bedrooms in my home.

My original plan to have this as a temporary solution was one I quickly put aside when I received my electric bill. The cost to run these air conditioners barely even affected my electric bill at all! It was the coolest and cheapest summer I ever experienced! The GE 5200 btu is for small rooms, however our family room is very large and it does a wonderful job.

This model has 3 cooling levels and 2 fan speeds and is very attractive.

Who says you have to have central Air conditioning? For the price of this room air conditioner and the low cost to operate, I will never go back to central A/C. I can control which rooms I cool, and am no longer wasting money on the high cost of electric bills during those hot summers.

I would highly recommend the GE 5200 btu room air conditioner for anyone who is looking for an alternative solution to cooling their home and would like to save money on the high cost of electricity during those hot summers!
